Basic Advanced Youth Facilitator Training Schedule

 

The Advanced AVP workshop (Prerequisite: Completion of a Basic Workshop) focuses on going deeper to explore, both in ourselves and in the world we live in, the underlying causes of violence.  It is designed to give participants opportunities:
  • To rebuild community
  • Review in-depth the concept of transforming power
  • To set individual and group goals/themes for the workshop
  • The practise of consensus decision making to set the group’s focus theme/s

     

    Focus Theme(s)
    Fear
    Reveal the hidden fears that underlie anger, jealousy, power & control, and prejudice.
    Anger
    Gain a deeper understanding of the personal situations that trigger anger, and what is underneath the anger feelings, thoughts/beliefs, and unmet needs.
    Power (and powerlessness)
    Understand power structures and get in touch with own inner power.
    Communication
    Develop an awareness and ability to speak with respect and actively listen in tense and stressful situations, and practise the skills to do this.
    Respect
    Understanding of what is respect, how it is given & received, based on trust & affirmation.
    Forgiveness
    Learn what forgiveness is, and build the groundwork for true reconciliation without guilt.
    Stereotyping
    Build an awareness of stereotyping, bias and prejudice in personal relations.
    Man-woman relationships
    Explore issues of fear, anger, power and powerlessness, expectations & demands, in relationships.
    And others
    Whatever the group finds most compelling.
