History Philosophy Power Wheel Structure


The Mandala / Transforming Power Wheel is a tool used to assist in recognising the inherent ability people have to transform situations that might otherwise lead to violence into peaceful pathways. Participants are encouraged to consider the deeper aspect of Transforming Power also present when choices to seek a peaceful solution are actively sought.

Think before reacting:
Do I take time to understand before reacting?
Do I take time to regain composure and think of next steps?
Do I consider possible consequences?

Ask for a nonviolent solution:
Do I look for alternative actions?
Do I ask for help to find other ways to respond?
Do I try new or unexpected solutions like humor?

Respect for self:
Do I value and affirm myself?
Do I speak for myself and own what I say?
Do I accept personal responsibility?

Caring for others:
Do I value and affirm others?
Do I listen to the ideas, knowledge and concerns of others?
Do I accept responsibility?

Transforming power:
Do I seek ways to transform situations peacefully?
